Prior to going to Nutrition Works I thought, ‘How hard could eating be as an endurance athlete?’ You just eat what you want and the training usually keeps the weight off, right? After seeing Simone at Nutrition Works I realised that nutrition for athletes is about so much more. It’s about getting the most out of intensity training, recovering from your efforts, excelling whilst racing, maintaining a desired weight and feeling healthy. A quality nutrition plan is an absolute eye opener and an absolute must for any endurance athlete. Simone has managed to educate and inform me of what is required and facilitates this by offering a realistic nutrition program that has allowed me to excel at professional bike races throughout Asia and Europe. Nutrition does ‘work’ and may offer you greater insight into gaining many performance edges.

I started seeing Simone at Nutrition Works about 4 years ago when I got into the longer distance triathlons, I experienced really bad stitches during racing and came to Simone for advice. We worked on different things and I thankfully have that under control now! With every major event I visit Nutrition Works and we go through what nutrition will be available at the race and how I can get in the food and drink I need to.
I made the step up from age group to open/Elite in 2008 here in WA and represented Australia at both the QLD Olympic Distance Triathlon and the Perth Long course in 2009 and am looking at taking on the Half Ironman Series in 2010.
I strongly believe having your nutrition under control not only for racing and training but life in general.

My name is Daniel Vernon and I am the Master-in-Charge of rowing at Hale School (Western Australia). I am in charge of over 100 students who choose to row at the school, and the rowing season is during the summer months (starts mid-October and concludes with the Head of the River in late March). For this year I am also coaching Hale School’s 1st VIII crew.
From a referral from our current Sportsmaster, Mr Simon Young, I contacted Simone Allen from Nutrition Works to come and pass on nutritional information to my Senior rowers (15-17yrs) during their residential rowing camp in January. Simone was most accommodating and agreed to talk to the boys on a Thursday evening at the School. She had a very good repour with the boys and debriefing the boys after the talk all said they had found the information relevant and practical. Certainly the way they asked many questions it was clear they were engaged in discussions. I found it to be such a success that I asked Simone to come back to the school on another evening to talk to the boys parents, who equally found the information interesting and usable.
The upshot of the boys and parents being more informed in terms of nutrition is the boys have started to bring healthy snacks along to training sessions and are more conscious of what they put in their mouths. I intend to use the services Simone and Nutrition Works offer in future seasons, and would recommend them to other sporting groups and organisations.

Simone Allen’s enlightening message of the value of good nutrition is important for the future of the 150 St Hilda’s students who were fortunate to hear her session.
In today’s society, with so many pressures on performance, her simple message to our athletes on personal nutrition and preparation was thorough and pertinent for the pursuit of personal excellence.
The open approach to her presentation answered many questions and highlighted the need and importance of following a sensible diet.

Thank you Simone for all your nutritional advice and support over the years.
As a triathlete, it is important to know that nutrition plays an important role in allowing your body to train, race and recover at its full potential. Simone has not only provided me with a nutritional plan specific to my needs based on my daily training schedule and race distances, she has also educated me on what nutrients I require and which foods contain them. Through her analysis, knowledge and background as an athlete, Simone has helped me to achieve my goals and I would highly recommend nutrition works to any athlete.
Caitlin Bridgland – 2nd Long Distance World Championships 2009 (20-24 age group) and 3rd Busselton Ironman 2009 (20-24 age group)
My first encounter with Simone was about 8 months ago and a good 10 Kilo’s heavier. With Simone’s expert advice and on-going support I have managed to achieve my goals.
As an athlete its so important to understand how your body works and exactly what type of foods your body requires to perform at the highest possible level which is what Simone has been able to provide me. This has been the most important part of my season so far as i have finally reached my on-court goal of consistency.
Knowing the right foods and having guidance allowed me to stay focused and most importantly determined. Simone covers all areas – pre game – post game – recovery – training and travel which is a huge part of our season.
Having my nutrition under control and having the knowledge of an important eating plan is not only important for my career as an athlete but for life in general.
Simone has given me a new outlook on nutrition as a athlete and I highly recommend her to anyone that comes in contact with me in the sporting world.
